BPA in Cuisinart Food Processors

I am very disappointed to report that the Cuisinart Mini Prep and the Cuisinart Food Processors are made with with Polycarbonate and therefore contain bisphenol-A. When I called Cuisinarts info line tonight at talked with one of their reps, he was very polite and wanted to be helpful, however all he could tell me is that they are awaiting further information from the FDA in regards to BPA.
Well, I guess I will be looking for something else to use when I am making my baby food. This is too bad because the food processors are perfect for the job. Hopefully Cuisinart will be making changes to their product line in the near future. I am also hoping that they will do something to replace parts that contain BPA. A girl can hope can't she.

I work for Cuisinart in Canada - and we tested our Food Processors and Choppers late in 2007 when people first began asking about BPA. We are happy to tell you that our Lexan food processor bowls are FREE FROM BPA. So continue to make your baby food.
If you want some more info...feel free to email me.

I got $250 Kitchen Aid food processor and looking at the plastic it seems like it contains BPA. I called Kitchen Air rep and they didn't want to respond (they claim they don't know if it contains it or not) Is it OK to use if the food is room temp? I am looking for another BPA free option out there. Anyone has any thoughts?

Bojana, I am not an expert but I think that if you are using it for things that are at room temp and not putting it through the dish washer (because of the high heat) then it is probably OK. I stopped using my Cuisinart to make my sons baby food because I was literally putting steaming hot food into it and I suspect that that would leach the BPA out of it.

I think that it is unfortunate that companies such as Cuisinart and KitchenAide are either not forthcoming with information or deceptive.

I like Kris have been using my blender, because of the glass, however this won't work for everything. It would be hard to make a cake or batch of cookies in your blender.

Hope some of this helps.

You have got to be kidding me. Don't you know that everything on the planet has the potential to make you sick or cause cancer... if the dose is large enough or the length of exposure is long enough? Folks, lets use our common sense here and not panic every time a new report comes out.

Hi, I contacted Cuisinart via email in July. (email below) They confirmed that there is BPA in the bowl. The proposed regulations make no sense, if it's not deemed safe enough for baby bottles, why would it be safe in a food processor??? I'm furious that our government puts industry before the safety of our children.

email:
